Hah hah. I guess he needs to have his consciousness raised by carefully studying all the evidence that supports evolution and natural selection. Personally, I can understand why many people now opt to believe in a Higher Power or Force(s) of Nature and abandon religion altogether, what I can't understand is why intelligent people still need to believe in the idea that God is a supernatural being sitting on a mighty throne carefully observing about human doings and even passionate about it by venting anger, i.e. giving "punishment" to "wrongdoers"! In my mind "God" (sorry to use this much abused word) has to be truly a scientist if he's responsible for this wondrous existence of us and the universe.Khilath Rasheed - journalist and blogger from Maldiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13514858107197926545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4068719549849478500.post-79378498485971133242008-09-22T11:56:00.000-07:002008-09-22T11:56:00.000-07:00@maldivian writerThanks for referring me to the ne...@maldivian writer

Thanks for referring me to the news about Antony Flew abandoning atheism.

The article itself did not provide any reason for his change in mind, so I had to dig deep to find out about the case. It seems that Mr. Flew is quite a controversial figure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_Flew) who had changed his position a number of times.

He states that although its 'probable' that the universe had a creator, a fundamental distinction needs to be made between God of Aristotle or Spinoza and the Gods of the Christian and the Islamic Revelations.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if he changes his mind once again.agnosticmaldiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11418040578107512506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4068719549849478500.post-17555153295349172902008-09-21T15:29:00.000-07:002008-09-21T15:29:00.000-07:00Everything said here is true: though we don't have...Everything said here is true: though we don't have absolute answers (to questions like how can something come out of nothing or can something always exist), there is just not enough scientific or even logical evidence to suggest that a God or gods exist or religion(s) are true. People throw rationalism out of the window because they are too insecure about the prospect of death. If say, everyone was immortal and had an eternal life to live on Earth, I doubt that anyone would ever give a damn about a God or religion. They will just go on seeking a pleasurable life. Atheists and agnostics are people who seek the truth and has accepted the inevitable fact that one day their lives will end and are making sure that this life is worth it and a time to be enjoyed. On the other hand, people who believe in a God or religion does not give a shit about this life and wouldn't mind suffering because they have been "promised" an afterlife. No wonder that religion is the product of geniuses in history who have sought political control over the people by keeping them "drugged" in a state of poverty and oppression so that the ruling class can lead a happy life while keeping the masses (happily) in their suffering. Isn't it time that we, as an intelligent species, recognise this supernatural bullshit for what it really is, and try to be more rational and realistic?Khilath Rasheed - journalist and blogger from Maldiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13514858107197926545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4068719549849478500.post-68227184049453271802008-09-21T12:57:00.000-07:002008-09-21T12:57:00.000-07:00Maybe you should check the link below too.http://w...Maybe you should check the link below too.

http://www.existence-of-god.com/flew-abandons-atheism.html

A figurehead for atheists, Antony Flew Abandons Atheism.
Former Atheist Believes in God!Maldives In The Fast Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04712931262575311505noreply@blogger.com
