Saudi cleric favours one-eye veil

A Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia has called on women to wear a full veil, or niqab, that reveals only one eye.

Sheikh Muhammad al-Habadan said showing both eyes encouraged women to use eye make-up to look seductive.

The question of how much of her face a woman should cover is a controversial topic in many Muslim societies.

The niqab is more common in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, but women in much of the Muslim Middle East wear a headscarf which covers only their hair.

Sheikh Habadan, an ultra-conservative cleric who is said to have wide influence among religious Saudis, was answering questions on the Muslim satellite channel al-Majd.

Perhaps "Sheikh" Habadan should try that particular kind of nigab by himself before he would like the Government of Saudi Arabia to forcefully impose it on the rest of the poor women of that country. What is wrong with men? Haven't you enslaved half of the other human race enough? If you enjoy pain and suffering so much, why don't you go through it, rather than impose it on other people who would like to lead normal happy independent lives. I pray that people like this "Sheikh" rot in Hell for tarnishing Islam's image in the eyes of millions of normal Muslims and non-Muslims.

Just to point out one more thing: isn't this "Sheikh" aware that people need TWO eyes to see the space around them in THREE DIMENSION? Does he expect Saudi women to be physically escorted by men (who are not legitimate to marry them) every time they want to go out of home? We live in crazy times, I guess.
